You have Torches and Rations. But you do not know how many.
Only the DM knows how many of each you have. They will tell you at the beginning.
You can never Know how many Torches and Rations you have.
You can guess. You can discuss.
You can come to a consensus.
But you can never Know.

As you explore the dark dungeons, the DM will keep track of how many Rooms you have explored.
The only treasures in the dark dungeons are Torches and Rations.
